Good bye CEOI!

CEOI 2023 is over. It ended on Friday with the closing ceremony and a farewell dinner and party. While during the week there always had been a chance of rain (with some heavy rains actually happening), the sun finally honoured the contestants’ achievements and the organisers’ hard work. You can take a look at the last day and the closing ceremony in particular by watching the last video on the CEOI 2023 YouTube channel; also, some nice pictures are available.

The CEOI 2023 competition was quite challenging: The overall winner, Luca Perju-Verzotti from Romania, reached 448 points out of 600. All four gold medalists fully solved exactly three tasks, while silver medalists fully solved no more than two tasks. Overall the final ranking shows a good distribution of scores, with nobody going out empty. The Scientific Committee expressed its satisfaction, and decided to open the CEOI 2023 tasks to the public: A mirror competition will be held on the competition server on Friday and Saturday (Aug. 25/26, 9-14h CEST). Read here for more details (see end of post).

At the end of the closing ceremony, CEOI 2023 co-chair Wolfgang Pohl passed over the new CEOI baton to Tomaš Pitner from Czech Republic, who announced CEOI 2024 to be hosted in Brno next year. Before, many CEOI contestants will take part in IOI 2023 (Aug. 8 – Sept. 4) in Szeged, Hungary. Good luck!
